Hello everyone

This mail is to let everyone know what is happening with Rochdale Octopush at the moment.

League Matches
The league has now started and the fixtures are attached to this mail. On match nights it would be helpful if everyone could turn up on time. This means that we can get the match started as soon after 8:30 as possible and that those who are not playing in the match can still get nearly an hour of pool time in.

First match against Dewsbury was held on Monday, They are one of the top 2 teams in the league and we improved on last year's result against them. Last year 17-nil, this year 16-nil.

Subscriptions
We have recently paid the BOA subs and this has left us with a bank balance of nil. The total paid to the BOA was £167. As in previous years we are asking each member to contribute £5 to help cover this. Please let Helen have this as soon as possible.

Christmas Do
We will try to have it a bit earlier than Easter next year. How does January sound? Please let me know if you have any suggestions where we can go (Indian, Chinese, Carvery, Greek - In Rochdale, Manchester or elsewhere?)
Can the players who are away at Uni. let me know if they are interested and when you are due back there in The New Year. We can try to organise it for the weekend before you go back. Having said that read the next paragraph before making any decisions.

Christmas Pool Times
We haven't confirmed when the pool is open at Christmas, but looking at the dates there is a chance we may only miss one week (probably open on 23rd December and shut on 30th). We'll let you know nearer the time.

National Championships

Dates have been published for the following events
Provisional dates for the 2003 Junior and Youth Championships at Manchester Aquatic Centre

Under-21 Championship January 4th. One pool 3:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. (confirmed in diving pit)
Under-18 Championship February 22nd . One pool 3:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. (confirmed in diving pit)
Under-16 Championship March 29th. Two pools 12:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. (still provisional)
Under-13 Championship May 10th. Two pools 12:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. (still provisional)
There is currently some discussion on the BOA "chatsite" about there being comparatively few club sides in the Under 21 and Under 18 championships and that certain players are recruiting all the best players onto one team irrespective of whether their own Club has entered a team. There is currently a suggestion that while "made up" teams be allowed to enter, only genuine Club sides would be allowed to win the trophies.

Irrespective of this debate, with the number of players that we have at University combined with the best of the current junior team, I am sure that we could put out a strong Under-21s team to represent Rochdale. We could also enter an Under 18's Team.
