Paperclips

News update:
It was my birthday a the other week. Such a special birthday. George got me a birthday card. Well, actually he made me a birthday card. I have added it to the bottom of my page as it is rather special. Why rather special? It is made out of paperclips arranged to spell happy birthday. Not only that but they are striped in different colours. And, I got a box of the paperclips as a present. They are 'Tiger Striped'. Just look and see. I may use one of them to hang up my Christmas card. If I get one this year.

George also took me out for a drink on the day of my birthday. Usually I just make a special packed lunch but this year George said he was going to take us out. We went with some other chums that George works with to a public house near to work. I do not object to a couple of drinks but after two pints of lemonade shandy I had to resort to a dry sherry. It felt like we were out all afternoon but luckily we were back by two o'clock. I spent most of the afternoon 'doing a stock check'. George covered for me while I was busy. After a some strong black coffee and an aspirin I was ready to get the bus home. A few eyebrows were raised that day.

Old news:
The last couple of weeks have been a nightmare. George had set up my pictures of paperclips before going on holiday. They were all ready to be put on my page. It was going to be a suprise for him that they pages were set up. This did not happen in the end. The floppy disk that had the pictures on did not work. They all need to be done again because George has also had problems with his computer. Now that he is back from his holidays we can do them again and I will put them on my page as they get done.

Welcome to my web page. My name is Norman Greene and these are going to be my pages about me and my interest in paperclips. It is more than just a hobby because paperclips are part of my work as well.

Firstly, I have to thank George ( big round of applause) for his suggestion about creating an internet page. He has taught me the hiper text marking language which he calls HTML for short. George has been my advisor over the last few months and has copied the pictures that you see to put on this site.

A big thank you to ScottyWeb for providing me with a place to put my pages. Finally, thank you to everyone at work who has encouraged me, provided suggestions and expressed such an interest in my endeavours.

The picture at the top of my page was given to me recently by John. He says it looks at bit like me. I know he is only joking because I don't wear odd socks.

I think that this is the most useful paperclip of all.
We use it for most things at work. Holding minutes from meetings together, memos, and reports. They sometimes get bent by trying to hold too much paper together in one go. Its not a problem in most cases to straighten them. For the difficult ones I have some small pointy pliers to get the correct shape again.

My birthday card made out of Tiger Striped paperclips.
For any foreign visitors they are called Trombones tigres, Tigergestreifte Buroklammern, Paperclips met tijgerstrepen. I hope you can understand that because I cannot do the accent.

This was an extra special present because I have never had any of these paperclips before. We do not use these at work because they cost too much. People would only argue about which colours they wanted to use as well, so a lot could be wasted. I have thought about buying some but never quite saved up enough spare money.

There is so much to do but I am going to get a picture of each colour to put on this page. My favourite one is the yellow and green striped one.
