The Waldorf

Location: The Waldorf is on the corner of Gore street and Roby street just off Piccadilly. It is mid way between Piccadilly Gardens and the station.
It could be quite easy to miss this place because it surrounded on three sides by high buildings. It is also set back off the Piccadilly road. We had the choice of two entrances so we went in one and eventually came out of the other.
There were a variety of beers on offer. Four guest beers were advertised, Abbot Ale, Old Speckled Hen, Landlord and Boddingtons. We did not see the Abbot or Speckled Hen. Perhaps they had popped out. There was also London Pride. Keg Boddingtons and Tetley were also available. Other drinks were Heineken, Stella Artois, GB and Guinness. The bar had free copies of 'Opening Times' available. This is a publication produced by the Stockport & South Manchester CAMRA branch on a month basis. Its not small either being printed on A4 size paper and containing 24 pages. This didn't make up for the lack of beer mats on the tables though. No, one didn't get used as a beer mat.
For a Thursday it was quite full but we still got a table. There were plenty around the room. A lot of the walls were half wood panelled with old pictures placed around the walls. It was dimish inside with the orange tinted bulbs but not so dark that you couldn't see what you were eating. The food looked pretty good.
There was music on (Enola Gay comes to mind) and they have football on TV on certain nights of the week. The toilets were downstairs.
